Michigan Law Firm Boyer Dawson & St. Pierre Wins Million Dollar Verdict for Client Paralyzed in a 2007 ORV Accident
The Michigan law firm of Boyer Dawson & St. Pierre won a $1 million verdict for a client severely injured in an off road vehicle (ORV) accident in 2007. The case, Duffy v. Grange Insurance Company of Michigan (Case # 07-4968-NF) was heard in the Macomb County Circuit Court.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this case,” said injury attorney and firm partner William G. Boyer, Jr. “Our hearts went out to this client, who became paralyzed as a result of this accident. It took four years, but we fought very hard and we won.”
The jury awarded not only actual damages in this case, but also penalty interest. According to testimony, Grange Insurance Company of Michigan refused to pay no-fault benefits to the victim despite his serious injuries. Boyer argued that the no-fault policy was designed for just such clients and that Grange should pay up. The jury sided with Boyer and awarded the $1 million to the client, including interest to penalize the insurance company for dragging out the case for so long, according to court papers. Boyer is now seeing attorney fees from the insurance company as well.
